‘s fans celebrated the birthday of the serial killer at a London pub. The group gathered as the jailed killer nurse turned 35, celebrating with prosecco, homemade banners and a pink birthday cake with her name written on it.
Letby spent her birthday on January 4 in prison after being convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill seven others in a neonatal unit.
The former nurse’s supporters met at The Windmill pub on Clapham Common, where six people celebrated. The fans met through a Facebook group called “Lucy Letby Discussions”, where they discuss their belief in Letby’s innocence and advocate for her release.
Images posted on the closed social media group show the attendees holding up a homemade banner reading “happy birthday Lucy” and “a blatant miscarriage of justice”. The group, who drank prosecco to celebrate, made the booking under the name “Lucy”, which was visible on a reserved card on the table.

A friend of a parent whose premature baby daughter was killed by Letby who saw the posts said: “There are families who will never get to celebrate their children’s birthdays.
“What’s next, do we have celebrations for Myra Hindley and Ian Brady?”
One attendee, who uses the pseudonym Lulu Tee, 45, a carer from South London, denied it was a birthday party, telling SWNS: “It was just a meetup of people from the groups. We wanted to get together to toast her birthday and discuss the case. The organiser arranged a cake and a few banners to highlight that it was a miscarriage of justice.”
She added: “There was a plan to sing happy birthday and record a message for her saying we’re thinking of her and feel it’s unfair she isn’t able to celebrate the things she should be celebrating, if she’s innocent. Meanwhile, the people who are at fault are not in prison.”
One of the organisers shared a message on social media prior to the event, which read: “Today is Lucy Letby’s birthday. Sadly she is in prison for crimes she didn’t commit. She won’t be able to celebrate her birthday & will be without her family & friends. Myself and a group of friends will be meeting up to toast her birthday and send her and her family comforting thoughts. Hopefully this will be the last birthday she spends in prison.”

The attendees later uploaded photos from their meet-up, captioning the images: “A lovely afternoon & evening spent thinking of Lucy on her birthday.” Group members replied, showing their support with comments like “Aww, that is so nice” and “how lovely.”
‘Lulu’ explained her reasoning for taking part. She said: “I was closely following the trial and I read the discussions online, as I have twins who were born two months premature, and I felt very emotionally involved. I originally assumed that everything said about Lucy was true. But then I noticed those who believed she was innocent made much stronger cases than those who argued for her guilt. I talked to academic and legal experts, including her barrister, about it and concluded for myself that she is innocent.”
A spokesperson for The Windmill pub told MyLondon: “We are not aligned to this group of individuals in any way. A small birthday gathering was booked in to dine at the Windmill on January 4th. We were not aware of the details of the occasion other than it being a ‘birthday’. The guests did not make the team aware of the reason for their visit and the banner supporting their cause was not on display whilst any of our team or other customers were in attendance.”
