Popular US fast food chain Wingstop has announced plans to open at least 20 new sites across this year, creating hundreds of .

The plans come just a month after Wingstop’s UK operations were taken over by a US private equity firm for more than £400 million.

The brand first arrived in the UK in 2018 and now boasts 57 sites across the country in total, employing more than 2,500 staff.

Wingstop opened 18 new sites last year alone, including its largest 160-cover flagship site at Westfield Stratford in east London, and its expansion plans for this year signals the company’s commitment to growth in the UK’s competitive .

Wingstop has said it will open at least 10 of the new locations in the first half of 2025, with the remaining 10 to follow later in the year.

The chain has not yet announced where all 20 of the new sites will be based, but it has confirmed new dine-in restaurants at the following locations so far:

  • Swansea

  • Newcastle

  • Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex

  • Streatham, south London

  • Cardigan Fields, Leeds

These restaurants are due to open in the first half of this year, alongside a further delivery kitchen in Brighton.

The growth of the brand comes amid a boom for chicken chains in the UK, with competitor Popeyes also rapidly opening new sites, while new brands including Dave’s Hot Chicken and Chick-fil-A entering the market.
