The Pattullo Bridge connecting Surrey and New Westminster is closed Sunday morning after a fatal crash.

The collision just before 8:30 a.m. at the east end of the bridge involved five vehicles including a bus.

An adult female driver died at the scene despite the efforts of first responders, while several others were injured. The extent of those injuries is not yet known.

Surrey police say the Pattullo is closed in both directions as crash analysts and investigators process the scene.

It’s expected the closure and traffic diversions will continue throughout the day, said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

Anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to call the Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502.
