Shower glass tends to be tricky to keep clean as it is exposed to lots of soap and moisture on a daily basis, which eventually causes limescale to build up on the surface.

is a crusty made up of minerals that are left behind when hard water evaporates and will look like a white filmy layer on screens.

If left untreated, limescale will make a glass surface rough and begin collecting any soapy residue to that splashed on the shower screen, which will make it even harder to remove.

Instead of wasting money buying a shower , Adam Blundell from , has shared the best item to wash away shower glass limescale is likely already sitting in your kitchen.

Adam said: “Although there are plenty of glass cleaners that could do this job, vinegar is a cheaper option. Just spray the solution on the screen and leave it to settle for a few minutes before wiping the stain away.”

It may seem bizarre but white vinegar can naturally break down the minerals that limescale is made up of so it is easy to rinse away.

Limescale is known stick stubbornly to surfaces so can be difficult to get rid of, but vinegar is a simple way to dissolve this stain in five minutes and without much effort.

Adam added: “Ever scrubbed a stain so much you thought you’d get repetitive strain injury, and it still won’t go away?

“Put white vinegar mixed with water into a spray bottle and spray on your glass, shower head or shower door. It can break down these tough stains like limescale.”

How to use vinegar to get rid of limescale

All you need to do is pour equal amounts of vinegar and warm water into an empty spray bottle, and then spray a generous amount on your shower screen.

Let the solution drip down the glass and leave it alone without touching it for at least five minutes.

Once the time is up, wipe your shower glass and the limescale should easily come away.

Rinse the glass with clean water, then dry it with a cloth and your shower screen door should be sparkling clean.

In the future, wipe your shower screen after every shower to prevent limescale build up and also open a window to stop any condensation appearing on the glass as well.
