2025 has only just begun, and a number of hit TV shows have already faced the chop from brutal bosses.
Sky’s Brassic, featuring has been the latest show to be cancelled after an impressive seven seasons, leaving fans gutted.
But it hasn’t even been the only casualty of the week, as Frasier reboot, starring Kelsey Grammer and legend Nicholas Lyndhurst has also been axed after just two series.
‘s The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin was also forced to stop production mid-production after the actor suddenly pulled out due to health reasons.
With February swiftly approaching, Express.co.uk is taking a look at the latest hit shows which won’t be making another series.

The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin
‘s Noel Fielding sparked concern after he was forced to suddenly pull out of his new show on AppleTV, The Midadventures of Dick Turpin.
It followed a charismatic thief and his band of hilarious miscreants make their way around the country in a series of wild adventures, while trying to evade capture from a corrupt lawman.
Production was said to be almost finished for the second series, but bosses were forced to abruptly axe the show after Fielding pulled out for health reasons.
A source told : “Naturally, the rumour mill is in overtime as to what has happened with Noel, but it must have been very serious to axe the whole show.
“In most circumstances execs will at least consider pausing filming, but for some reason they decided to throw in the towel before the situation got any worse.”

Frasier
Frasier and Only Fools fans were thrilled when Paramount announced they would be airing a reboot of the beloved US series from the 90s, starring Frasier Crane and his friends and family in Seattle.
Frasier had left Niles and his other friends and family behind from the original series, but saw the addition of Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor. However, Roz Doyle also made a guest appearance.
Deadline revealed Paramount+ had decided not to renew the show after two seasons, but there may be hope for the series, as CBS remains commited to it, and hopes to shop it to other outlets.

Shardlake
Disney+ series Shardlake is set during the dissolution of the monasteries in the Tudor era. Based on the book series by C.J. Sansom, it followed disabled barrister Master Matthew Shardlake as he’s sent by Thomas Cromwell to investigate the death of a commissioner in a remote town.
The author Sansom died shortly before the series premiered.
A spokesperson confirmed: “Shardlake will not be returning for a second season on the service. We’d like to thank Stephen Butchard who adapted the late C.J. Sansom’s beloved novel for the screen, the entire cast – led by the outstanding Arthur Hughes – and crew, and our production partners The Forge and Runaway Fridge.
“We hope to work with all of our partners across these shows again in the future”.
Fans were left devastated as they took to social media to share their fury, as one said: “Really gutted to hear the news #shardlake won’t be returning for a 2nd second. What a missed opportunity. Great cast and fantastic books. Disappointed.”
Another added: “Predictable really, we can’t seem to keep good TV shows and it appears that Shardlake is another one that has been cancelled. It wasn’t outstanding but much better than some of the utter dross Disney has been putting out in recent years.”

Brassic
Brassic bosses confirmed the hit Sky One series is coming to an end after an impressive run of seven series.
Co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst wrote in a statement: “It’s been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA.”
However, Michelle Keegan was forced to take to her Story to insist that the show had not been “axed” as she shared a picture of herself with her Brassic co-stars.
She wrote: “And just for the record… Brassic has not been ‘AXED’ or ‘cancelled’ it’s come to a natural end after six fantastic seasons and we’re currently in the middle of making the 7th and final season.
“Sending love to all the Brassic fans out there,” alongside a love heart emoji.

Passenger
This ITV mystery thriller starred Wunmi Mosaku as former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa as she investigates a series of strange and inexplicable crimes that have the townsfolk spinning on an axis.
Despite positive reviews, it was axed after just one season, but is available to watch on ITVX.
ITV said: “Passenger was enjoyed by the viewers that watched the drama, but sadly we’ve decided there won’t be a second series.”
The drama also starred David Threlfall, Rowan Robinson and Jack James Ryan in leading roles.

The Tower
The Tower’s axe sparked backlash after bosses decided to end the show after just three seasons. Starring Gemma Whelan, Emmett J Scanlan and Tamzin Outhwaite, the show received positive reviews when it first aired in 2021.
Oaten played DS Sarah Collins, who was part of a group of detectives investigating serious crimes in central London, while Peaky Blinders star Emmett played rule-bending inspector Kieran Shaw.
ITV confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “The Tower was much loved by the audience who watched the drama but the viewing figures for the last series did not reach expectations so sadly we won’t be recommissioning.”

Extraordinary
Disney+ bosses sparked outrage as they confirmed Extraordinary would not be returning for a third series, despite high ratings and positive reviews.
It follows Jen, a woman who lives in a world where most people develop a superpower when they are 18 – except her. It stars Máiréad Tyers as Jen, with Sofia Oxenham portraying best mate Carrie and Bilal Hasna as their flatmate and Carrie’s boyfriend Kash.
A representative for Disney+ said: “Disney+ Original series ‘Extraordinary’ will not be returning for a third season on the service. We’re so proud of the hilarious, award-winning series brought to life by the incredibly talented British and Irish cast and crew, our production partners at Sid Gentle Films, and the exceptional writing talent of creator Emma Moran.”
