“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert mocked President Donald Trump’s explanation for his about-face on TikTok, which he tried to ban during his first term in office but is now trying to protect
Critics say the popular social media video platform has close ties to the Chinese government and could be used as a tool to spy on Americans.
Speaking on Fox News this week, Trump downplayed the threat.
“Is it that important for China to be spying on young people, on young kids watching crazy videos?” he said.
Colbert mockingly agreed.
“Maybe he’s right,” he said. “Maybe we shouldn’t be worrying so much about young people.”
He played a clip of Whitney Houston’s 1985 hit “Greatest Love of All,” but with a slight change: “I believe the children are whatever/Teach them stuff and let them blah blah blah.”
