Origins of ‘captivating’ new crime drama and episode streaming schedule

A new crime drama, described as ‘captivating,’ is now available on Disney+, although it originally began elsewhere. Fans must be patient, however, as the episodes are not all released at once.

High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a mother of three and cleaner with an extraordinary knack for solving the unsolvable, is soon recruited as a consultant by the LAPD.

Early viewers of the first episode have labelled it as “captivating and compelling.”

The series’ concept was initially the foundation of a French Belgian drama production titled HPI, an acronym for the French term Haut potential intellectual. It translates to ‘high intellectual potential’ in English, a synonym for gifted.

Audrey Fleurot starred as Morgane Alvaro in the original series. She is a highly intelligent housekeeper who becomes a consultant for a police division investigating serious crimes in Lille, using her sharp mind to solve numerous cases.

Don’t miss…

32 episodes have been produced across four series broadcasts in France, Belgium, and Switzerland. The first seven episodes of the remake, High Potential, are set to be available on Disney+ from January 23, reports .

However, this will not complete the series on the platform. Here are the names of the first episodes viewers can watch from that date, along with their synopsis.

Episode one – Pilot

Morgan, a night cleaner at an LAPD station, accidentally stumbles upon a murder case file during her shift. As she tidies up the scattered files and photos, she notices some critical inaccuracies and annotates them on the case board.

Initially infuriated, the police soon realise that Morgan’s keen eye could be instrumental in cracking the case.

Episode two – Dancers in the Dark

In her first official case, Morgan investigates the death of a tap dancer who met his end after being pushed off a roof onto his car. Concurrently, a Robbery Division officer seeks her assistance on a series of jewellery store heists.

Episode three – Dirty Rotten Scoundrel

While probing a case involving a con artist moonlighting as a rideshare driver, Morgan ruffles feathers by not strictly adhering to police protocol or clearly communicating her next steps in solving the case.

Episode four – Survival Mode

A case involving the kidnapping of a divorced mother’s daughters puts Morgan’s faith in others to the test, especially when evidence points towards the mother as a potential suspect.

Episode five – Croaked

The team delves into the mysterious death of a vet, poisoned by a substance found on her hands. As the investigation unfolds, the vet’s hidden secrets come to light.

Episode six – Hangover

The CEO of a healthcare device firm is discovered dead in her office following a company party. The prime suspect is the CEO’s assistant, found unconscious in the same room, who wakes up with a hangover and no recollection of the previous night’s events.

Episode seven – One of Us

During a visit to the LAPD bullpen on Morgan’s day off, Morgan and Ava find themselves taken hostage by two military soldiers who insist their comrade was unjustly accused of murder.

High Potential took a mid-season break over the festive period last year in America. This means episodes eight to 12 are yet to be aired, leaving UK fans eagerly awaiting their release.

The season finale is slated to air on ABC on February 4 in the US, with subsequent availability on Hulu for American viewers. A UK release date for the second half of the series remains unconfirmed; however, if the timeline mirrors that of the pilot’s broadcast in the States to its UK streaming debut, fans may face a four-month wait for the remaining five episodes.
