‘Sturdy’ fence post repair stakes ‘worth the money’ to fix storm damage

There’s nothing worse than unwanted expenses that often come with bad weather. Be it a lost roof tile or battered fence, it’s something we can all do without.

If your fence has taken a bit of a hammering in the recent storm then it might be worth trying out an inexpensive solution before reaching for a tradesman. have been earning praise on Amazon from buyers who’ve found them to be a “cheap” solution for leaning fence posts.

They’re priced at or They work by being attached to the existing post with screws before the stake part is hammered into the ground to provide additional stability.

They’re said to be “easy to install”, with plenty of satisfied buyers singing their praises. One said: “Did the job I needed, sturdy, solid. Very recommended if you have hard soil and need to plant them deep.” 

Another added: “Good impact point and sturdy construction. Use these all the time for a sturdy quick cheap fix.”

A third continued: “A storm knocked my aging fence over and it was almost completely down. A couple of these strategically placed along the fence not only propped it back up, but managed to keep it up through the many storms we got this winter. Absolutely worth the money.”

There are a couple of drawbacks that have been pointed out, including one buyer who said: “Excellent quality but the spike section is a good 150mm too short to be fully supportive.” Another said: “Useful, but the welding did break on one of the stakes during hammering.”

Elsewhere, Wickes also stocks a similar product, the  though they’re a bit pricier at £21 each. They do also have some delighted buyers though, including one who said: “Great product, easy to use and works well.” 

B&Q is another retailer to look at, with its range of fence repairs including  priced at £12.65 each.
