Demi Moore is on cloud nine after getting her first Academy Award nomination.
The star reacted to news of her Oscar nod for Best Actress for her role in “The Substance” in a statement on Thursday, telling People, “Being nominated for an Oscar is an incredible honor and these last few months have been beyond my wildest dreams.”
“Truly there are no words to fully express my joy and overwhelming gratitude for this recognition,” she continued. “Not only for me but for what this film represents. I am deeply humbled.”
Moore plays fading fitness celebrity Elizabeth Sparkle in “The Substance.” A campy dissection of Hollywood’s toxic obsession with youth, the body horror film earned five Oscar nominations at Thursday’s announcements.
Later in her statement, Moore turned her attention to Los Angeles, which has been devastated by multiple wildfires throughout the region this month. Not only does the city serve as the backdrop for “The Substance,” but it is also Moore’s home.
“This is a time of incredible contrasts and right now, my heart is with my friends, family, neighbors and community here in LA,” she said.
“The fires have devastated so many lives but to see the way our community has united leaves me in awe of the resilience and compassion that defines us, and this moment is a reminder of how incredible we are when we stand together,” the actor concluded.

It’s already turning out to be a busy awards season for Moore.
Earlier this month, she delivered a moving speech while accepting the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.
Moore hit back at critics who once dismissed her as a mere box-office attraction, telling viewers, “In those moments, when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.’”
