Fan favourite Stephen Bunting has been warned he could come crashing down to earth in the campaign if he continues with his antics on stage. ‘The Bullet’ has been included in the line-up for the first time since 2015, following an impressive year on the in 2024.
The 39-year-old captured his first major television title at the Masters last year, beating in the final.
He continued that form into the World Championship, reaching the semi-final stage , and last week captured the Bahrain Darts Masters title.

His has been welcomed by fans, with the Liverpudlian having become a popular figure with crowds. His approach to the oche to the song ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta has become iconic, and he’s become renowned for interacting with fans during matches.
But not everyone is impressed. On the podcast Darts Draait Door, the world No.5 was criticised for his antics, and told he needs to reign in his behaviour when the first of the 16 Thursday night meetings takes place in Belfast on February 6.
“When he comes up and throws 180, he turns around and stands with his hands gesturing to the audience,” said presenter Damian Vlottes. “I hope that dampens down a bit more in the coming weeks.”

Co-host Vincent van der Voort, himself a former quarter-finalist, was equally scathing. He accused Bunting of behaving as if he’s now up there with the greats of the sport, adding: “The man has come to believe he’s an icon.
“This is going to be 16 long weeks (in the Premier League) like this for you. Credit where credit is due, he wins the tournament (in Bahrain) and throws really well. He’s really comfortable and playing better than ever.
“It (his behaviour) also comes from that a little bit. That lollygagging is also more relaxation. It’s up to all the other darters to stop that and punish it. Then it will slow down quickly, although I think with Bunting you always keep this.”
Bunting will return to action this weekend when the Dutch Darts Masters takes place at Maaspoort Den Bosch in the Netherlands. He will be joined by his fellow seven Premier League competitors, as well as eight selected Dutch players.
The first round will be played on Friday, with the eight PDC players taking on the eight local players. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played on Saturday.
