Mixing just two simple household ingredients can make a potent weed-killer
Weeding can seem like a never-ending battle, with the pesky plants seemingly ready to sprout back no matter what you do.
Thriving between stone pavings and in gravel, hours can spent on your hands and needs trying to pick out the roots, but one simple may be here to save you some time.
Weeds sprouting from cracks in your drive can not only be unpleasant to look at, but also dangerous to trip over.
Fortunately, a simple and effective solution exists using just two items hiding in your kitchen cupboards – dish soap and vinegar.
Joe, a lawncare expert and founder of Joe’s Lawn Care, recommends this easy, homemade “DIY ” for finally removing the weeds from between gravel and stone pavings.

In a blog post, Joe revealed his handy trick: “We love nothing more than encouraging people to go environmentally friendly with their choice of , which is exactly what this DIY option celebrates.
“Made by mixing dish soap and vinegar, this simple solution won’t damage your lawn.”
Vinegar is a well-known natural weed killer, but unfortunately lacks the power to kill off the roots. However, when mixed with dish soap, it becomes an even more potent to the weeds – and more friendly to the environment than artificial and toxic weed killers.
To make the spray simply combine one ounce of dish soap with 4.5 litres of vinegar in a spray bottle. Give it a little shake and you’re ready to spray to your heart’s content – repeating until all the weeds have had a covering.

Joe added: “Of course, for best results, you’ll need to keep one eye on the weather as you want a non-rainy day so that your solution doesn’t a) get washed away and b) accidentally seep into any nearby plants or lawn close to your gravel.”
The gardener had another handy tip to ensure the annoying plants wouldn’t return which is also found in your cupboard.
“Ready to learn something new today? Rock salt is actually a super-effective and totally natural weed killer that is ace at clearing a gravel driveway.
“Simply sprinkle some rock salt on the ground surrounding any weeds you can see and then sit back and watch as the salt kills the weeds in just a matter of days. It’s almost unbelievable.”

Mix soap with vinegar to kill weeds down to the roots
However, he warned this method should only be used away from lawns and gardens, as it will permanently kill any greenery it touches.
“That’s because the salt will gradually seep into the ground where it was sprinkled, preventing any weeds (or plants) from being able to grow there for a while.
“Now that may sound absolutely perfect for your gravel driveway situation, but just make sure you are conservative with the amount you sprinkle and where you sprinkle it.”
