As loyal fans countdown the days until 6 is released, many have been taking to the streets of Los Santos again in anticipation. Although the game has been out for 12 years, some players are only just noticing ‘hidden’ details – with some admitting it has made them emotional.

Taking to Gaming Details thread, one gamer recorded their journey around the graveyard on story mode, saying: “GTA V has a dog that goes to its owner’s grave every day.”

The animated pooch is seen calmly walking down the pathway until it reaches its owner’s grave – the only one with a bouquet of flowers next to it. There, it sits in front of its headstone wagging its tail.

It is thought creators Rockstar Games were so touched by Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who guarded his owner’s grave for 14 days, they decided to include him in their game. Commenting on the Easter egg, one user said: “The amount of details in these games is insane.”

Wishing I could hold my dog again one more time. love your pets unconditionally and every chance you get because that’s what they give us and so much more. There time is so much shorter than ours. I miss you Jessy.”

One more user said: “After all these years I’m still learning new things about the game.” And another Redditor added: “In the same graveyard there’s a bench with a plaque on it featuring the name of one of the developers who died.”

A final user said: “This game is so incredible, this is why it sticks around even a decade after its release. I don’t think many games come close to this kind of replay-ability.” It comes as fans share their excitement over the release of GTA 6, with the game expected to be available for download in autumn this year.

A statement from Rockstar Games reads: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”
