Etsy is known for cutting its own path when it comes to pretty much everything. And its colour of the year choice for 2025 — Lime Cream (not be confused with lime green) — is another fresh take by the online maker marketplace.

Why Lime Cream?

2024 was all about bold colours and bold energy, says Johnson. Lime Cream feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s a shade that feels soft and serene.

This shade balances calm and playfulness and can be used to create spaces that feel like a retreat, without losing that spark of joy.

How do you see this colour reflecting other home decor trends for 2025?

2025 is all about leaning into light, fresh spaces that feel intentional and layered, says Johnson. Lime Cream is a bit like a gentle wave of calm after a busy 2024, and brings with it a sense of renewal, she says:

“It’s a colour that adapts beautifully to both minimalist and maximalist design styles whether it’s a small accent or a larger statement,” she says.

Where are you seeing this colour being used in home decor?

“I love seeing Lime Cream in unexpected places — like a statement ceramic bowl or a mid-century-inspired vase. It’s also popping up in wall accents and furniture, giving spaces a subtle yet uplifting makeover,” says Johnson.

What are some items for the home coming out in this colour?

At Etsy, they see this colour being used in all rooms of the home, from delicate candle holders to chic concrete trays and hand-stitched pillowcases. Each piece feels thoughtfully made and is perfect for a home refresh, says Johnson.

Any tips for how Lime Cream can be used with other colours and styles in people’s homes?

“This colour is great paired with earthy tones like terracotta for a grounded look or mixed with warm orange for something bold and sophisticated,” says Johnson.

“I also love it as a neutral base — add pops of brighter colours like coral or even pink for a modern, playful vibe,” she says.

How has Lime Cream been embraced by Etsy sellers?

“Our sellers are incredible at taking a trend and making it their own. Lime Cream is everywhere, from artisanal ceramics to hand-dyed textiles. It’s a testament to how versatile and inspiring this colour is,” she says.

Lime Cream is definitely showing up in fashion, as a great alternative to pastel green, especially paired with neutrals like linen or soft creams, says Johnson.

“It’s being used in weddings, adding a fresh touch to floral arrangements or table settings. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see it pop up in tech, especially in product design — there’s something so inviting about it,” she says.

Are there any Canadian artisans or makers on Etsy who are incorporating Lime Cream into their work?

“Yes! West Coast makers are really embracing the shade in ceramics and textiles. I’ve seen beautiful Lime Cream throw pillows and handmade ceramics from local B.C. artisans — perfect for adding a touch of this trend to your home.”

Lime Cream is all about fresh starts and joyful living, whether you’re redecorating your home or updating your wardrobe, says Johnson.

“It’s a shade that inspires creativity and optimism. I can’t wait to see how people incorporate it into their own lives this year!”
