BBC weather expert issues six-word Storm Eowyn warning she’s ‘not seen anything like it’

A BBC weather expert has given a dire warning about a storm that’s set to ravage the UK.

Several have been set in place for Scotland ahead of the major storm set to hit later this week.

is expected to bring brutal gusts over 80mph and will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, moving to the northeast on Friday night.

According to the , not only will it bring strong winds but for some snow accompanied by rain and winds.

weather presenter, Judith Ralston has also put out her own alert.

Posting on her X account, she said: “This is one major storm.

“I’ve not seen anything like it in my career.

“Please please keep up to date with the warnings there are numerous out right now including an Amber high wind.”

The Amber weather warning is in place for Friday, January 24 between 6am and 9pm.

Areas in northern England as well as Scotland will be faced with what the has said could cause “danger to life.”

The website said: “Injuries and danger to life could occur from flying debris, as well as large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.”

It also informed Brits of the chance of power cuts and warned that roofs could be “blown off” by the aggressive conditions.

The storm is likely to cause travel distruptions across roads, rails, air and ferry services. Some road and bridges will also close.

One yellow weather warning is in place for Saturday, 25 January between midnight and 3pm. The alert in place for Scotland will see winds between 50 and 60mph in land and between 60 and 70mph on exposed coast and hills.

The conditions will ease throughout the day but it is still expected to cause dangers and distruptions so it is important to keep updated with local weather reports.

deputy chief meteorologist Mike Silverstone said: “Storm Eowyn will bring a period of very unsettled, potentially distruptive, weather to the UK through Friday and into Saturday.

“The strongest gusts are liekly to be felt across parts of Northern Ireland, northern England, northwestern Wales and western Scotland, where exposed sites could get gusts in excess of 80mph, which has the potential to cause impacts for those in these areas.”

He added: “There will also be some heavy rain, bringing some unpleasent conditions to end the week.”
