presenter Iolo Williams called out his fellow  colleagues live on air after he suffered a technical blunder live on the evening show.

On Wednesday (January 22), the beloved wildlife show returned with a bang where the ornithologist welcomed viewers back to the programme alongside his co-hosts Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham.

For the third instalment of the week, the dynamic duo discussed the range latest furry friends they have spotted out in the heart of Dorset over the past 24 hours. Later on in the programme, the Welsh broadcaster moved on to share his findings for their weekly rapture challenge.

The wildlife challenge tasks presenters with filming as many birds of prey as they can across the week, with a goal of reaching a minimum of 13 each week.

It was at this point that the broadcaster submitted his findings for the viewers to see at home – but it’s fair to say his footage was less than ideal.

He began: “Now, you’ve got to take in this photograph very, very carefully. I was out and about and I caught a male and female Perry, look at that.”

Michaela immediately asked: “Are you sure about that?” as he chuckled: “Look at the definition on that! Now, I’ve got a bone to pick with the rest of the team because I was the only one out and about.

“I tried to phone them, nobody came, so that was taken with my little mobile phone.” The Dancing on Ice star was quick to defend her colleagues as she shared some crisp images of the same bird later on in the day.

She insisted: “Fortunately for you though, one of our camera operators was out and about in Poole and they saw a Peregrine and they got some great shots of it. I mean just look at this guy, it’s just a little bit better than yours.”

Iolo added: “Well, you say great, I would say quite average” to which she insisted: “Well it was there but look at the close up” to which he added: “Yeah, it’s still average.”
