A new study has found the most affordable models for , letting drivers borrow a practical model for a very reasonable price.
Whilst the is still slowly falling, it is still one of the most expensive bills a driver has to regularly pay. As a result, drivers who only occasionally use a car may be able to save hundreds by looking into short-term cover.
According to the short-term insurance provider , the cheapest car for drivers to is the , with a six-hour policy typically costing £9.66.
An ideal model for travelling in large towns and cities, the Smart ForTwo’s small stature and means the model has a .
Designed by the Swiss watchmaker Swatch, the Smart ForTwo is also a particularly attractive model, with most being made in vibrant colour schemes, and is easy to drive and park.

Motorists who are looking for a model that is both cheap to cover and capable of carrying more passengers were also urged by Cuvva to consider borrowing a Volkswagen Up!
The company’s study found that the German city car typically cost just 10p more than the Smart to drive for six hours, yet is capable of seating four adults in comfort.
The Volkswagen’s Spanish stablemate, the SEAT Mii, ranked third in the study, still being less than £10 to cover over a six-hour period.

Finally, the Kia Picanto is another good choice for motorists looking for short-term insurance cover on a budget, with Cuvva highlighting an average cost of £9.99 for six hours.
Currently, the Kia Picanto is one of the cheapest new cars on sale today, despite having an attractive appearance, solid reputation for build quality, and a warranty that lasts for seven years.
The company also noted that the Picanto is a particularly affordable car to run and slightly easier to negotiate tight spaces with compared to most city cars.
