Currys has come under fire for an “inappropriate” post shared on the brand’s official X channel following US President ‘s inauguration on Monday, January 20. The retailer, known for its technology products and services, shared a clip from the global event that has been shared by others many times.

In the footage, former president George W. Bush can be seen during the ceremony struggling to keep a straight face and seemingly trying to stop himself from laughing. Currys reposted the video with the caption “When the price has a 69 in the number”, and it has not gone down well with some social media users.

Responding on X, one person wrote: “Bit inappropriate!!!” A second said: “Didn’t expect this from you Currys” and a third echoed this with “Did not expect this from Currys”. A fourth wrote: “15 year old work experience lad running the socials?”

Currys has been approached for comment, but had not responded by the time of publication. Elsewhere at President Trump’s inauguration, an interaction between Bush and Barack Obama has also had people talking.

A lip reading expert believes Obama said: “Good to see you” before jokingly adding: “How can we stop what’s happening?” Bush and Obama are then seen laughing with one another as the ceremony continues.
