Vera star joins A-list Netflix show cast in huge career move away from ITV

Joe McGann, who stars as Julian Carr in the detective series , has been revealed as one of the stars in a major new production.

McGann, who viewers may also recognise from Casualty, Hollyoaks and ‘s recent series Kaos, is set to portray Wiley Corval in an exciting new drama conceived by renowned author Harlan Coben.

The upcoming series, titled Run Away, marks another collaboration between and Coben, who has previously delivered significant hits for the streaming platform, such as Fool Me Once, The Stranger and Missing You.

Run Away is based on Coben’s novel of the same name, with the author taking on the role of executive producer through his company, Final Twist Productions.

The series features a stellar cast, including James Nesbitt of The Missing, Ruth Jones from Gavin and Stacey, Minnie Driver of Good Will Hunting fame, Alfred Enoch from The Critic, and Lucian Msamati of Conclave, reports .

Additional cast members include Jon Pointing from Sweetpea, Ellie de Lange of Wolf Hall, Ellie Henry from Hollyoaks, Tracy-Ann Oberman of Friday Night Dinner, Annette Badland from Ted Lasso, and Doctor Who’s Ingrid Oliver.

The plot summary reveals: “Simon [James Nesbitt] had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige [Ellie de Lange] ran away and everything fell apart.

“So now when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home.

“But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”

This much-anticipated Coben adaptation will follow tradition, as Run Away takes the story from its original US setting to the atmospheric locales of Manchester and the North West of England this month.

The upcoming series is set to thrill audiences with eight one-hour episodes, marking the thirteenth Coben title in the streaming giant’s library.

His other works that are currently available to stream on include: Missing You, Fool Me Once, Gone For Good, The Stranger, Stay Close, The Innocent, Hold Tight, The Woods, Safe.

Meanwhile, the latest Coben titles to be announced by are: Run Away, Caught, Just One Look, I Will Find You.
