Former President George W. Bush’s now-viral facial expressions during Donald Trump’s second inauguration have left the internet humored.
On Monday, the 43rd president attended Trump’s inauguration alongside his wife, former first lady Laura Bush. As Trump took office as the nation’s 47th president, Bush stole the show as he winked, raised his eyebrows and held back laughter.
Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, reacted to Bush’s hijinks at Trump’s inauguration with a slew of hilarious memes.
On Tuesday, Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush Hager confirmed that social media users weren’t the only ones left chatting about her dad’s mannerisms during the Jan. 20 ceremony.
“You all already guessed what moment has been blowing up our family group chat,” she said during a Jan. 21 episode of the “Today” show.
“Yeah, my dad went viral for these cutaway shots during yesterday’s broadcast. The internet’s obsessed with this little smile and goofy expression.”

Bush, a Republican Trump criticlike his late father, went viral for yet another moment at Trump’s inauguration.
In a clip shared on X on Jan. 20 by The Washington Post’s Emily Davies, a staffer asked Bush, “Are you going to behave or not?”
Before Bush could answer, his presidential successor, Barack Obama, who was standing behind him, jokingly offered up a response: “Nope.”
