Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shares Rashford and Casemiro transfer plan as Man Utd exits loom

New Besiktas manager has poured cold water over suggestions that he could launch pursuits of duo and . Solskjaer has returned to management for the first time since his emotional exit in November 2021, signing an 18-month contract to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Predictably, the Norwegian coach has immediately been linked with United reunions and other potential swoops.

Rashford is expected to leave on loan this month, with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund currently considered his most likely destinations.

The 27-year-old made 135 appearances under Solskjaer at United, his most-used player, and scored 55 goals.

And the Red Devils legend’s arrival in Istanbul has sparked suggestions of whether the pair will work together again in the near future.

Meanwhile, Casemiro joined United the year after Solskjaer’s exit but has fallen out of favour under and turns 33 next month.

The Brazilian will likely leave Manchester in the summer, and given the lucrative contracts Turkish clubs have been offering in recent years, Besiktas could be contenders for his signature.

However, Solskjaer has confirmed that no plans are in place for either player to join him at the Besiktas Stadium.

“I’ve come from , so there will be transfer news like this,” Solskjaer accepted ahead of his first game in charge against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League on Wednesday.

He added: “Casemiro and Rashford are very good players, but I haven’t had any contact with them.”

Solskjaer also hinted that he wanted to leave his spell as United manager behind him as he focuses on relighting his coaching career in Turkey.

“I enjoyed my time at . That chapter is closed,” the 1999 treble hero said. “I’m looking forward to working at Besiktas now. The Bilbao game will be tough, but we are ready.”

Besiktas are slumped in 28th out of 36 teams in the Europa League after losing four of their first six matches, scoring six goals and conceding 13 times.

However, the Turkish giants are just one point outside of the play-off spots and visit 30th-place FC Twente in the final league phase match.

If the Black Eagles progress to the knockout stages, a dream reunion with United could await Solskjaer based on where Amorim’s side finish.

Besiktas are sixth in the Super Lig and currently outside of the European spots. Breaching the top four will be Solskjaer’s top priority this season.
