has been accused of “sucking up” to after he posted a photo on with the two-time president yesterday following his inauguration.
The former host was branded “cringe” as he praised the businessman’s achievement of becoming one of the most recognisable political figures in the world.
On a post which featured him alongside Trump and his President’s adult children, Ivanka and Donald JR, Piers typed: “New York, 2009. was a real estate tycoon and host of a hit TV show called Apprentice.
“Don Jr and Ivanka worked for his business and as his boardroom advisors on the show. I was judging piano-playing pigs on America’s Got Talent and had just won Trump’s first Celebrity Apprentice series.
“As he said on the phone the other day, ‘We’ve all come a long way from the Apprentice, Piers!’

Piers added: “We certainly have, and none of course more than Trump himself, who today becomes President of the United States for the second time. An amazing achievement.
“Congratulations, Donald, and best of luck,” he finished.
In the comment section, Piers’ 2.2 million followers were divided over the gushing display from the broadcaster. One typed: “You cannot be serious.”

A second typed: “This made me vomit a little in my mouth…wait, no, not a little, a lot…you corporate sell out.” Meanwhile, a third replied, “This stinks of desperation.”
And a fourth added: “Sucking up to a felon? Pathetic much, Piers?”
However, others were much more complimentary, praising Donald for bringing “sanity back to the White House.”
Former Good Morning Britain host Piers is good friends with the new president and told ITV’s Lorraine today that “he calls me quite a lot”, sharing their most recent surprising conversation.

Piers, who returned to ITV daytime to tell Lorraine Kelly what he thought Trump’s second time in office would hold, also said he had quit TV for YouTube to voice his opinions without being cancelled.
He calls me quite a lot,” Piers told Lorraine. “It was absolutely hilarious, he called me the other day and I kid you not, this is how the conversation went.
“‘Piers, it’s Donald. I’m just watching you on TV with Melania. I just said to Melania, wow, he’s looking great. You know what, he’s looking so great, I’m going to call him and tell him how great he looks. So I’m just calling you to tell you Piers, you’re looking great. What’s your secret?'”
