 paid a subtle nod to the with her outfit for the US inauguration in Washington DC on Monday.

In addition to sporting a tailored coat by US designer Adam Lippes, the incoming US First Lady wore a navy boater-style hat by Eric Javits.

The hat featured a white band. Her glamorous look was completed by ultra-high navy suede Manolo Blahnik heels and black leather gloves.

Her look appeared to replicate one she wore during a state visit to the UK in 2019.

In honour of a visit to Buckingham Palace to meet the late Queen Elizabeth II, Melania wore a white Dolce & Gabbana dress, complete with a white boater-style hat designed by her stylist Hervé Pierre.

Royal watchers also noted that the outfit was similar to those worn by members of the Royal Family – such as the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Boater-style hats were seen as a popular choice among the Firm at Royal Ascot last year.

The Princess of Wales also sported one at the memorial service for Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey in 2022.

Ivanka Trump’s teardrop-shaped hat was also out of the royal playbook.

Ivanka’s 13-year-old daughter’s outfit also bared resemblance to the outfit worn by Princess Charlotte at King Charles’s Coronation in 2023.

Arabella, the eldest of Ivanka’s three children, looked grown-up in a head-to-toe beige look, which featured a cape and trousers.

As well as sharing Arabella with her husband real estate developer Jared Kushner, the couple also share sons Joseph and Theodore.
