With golden sands and turquoise waters, the ‘surfing capital of North Devon’ has become one of the unlikely go-to destinations for families, couples, and adventure seekers alike in 2025.

With staycations only growing in popularity, holidaymakers have been flocking in droves to Devon and , with the village of Croyde proving a rather popular destination.

Renowned for its golden sands, world-class surfing, and breathtaking coastal walks, the Devon village is perfect for both family holidays and romantic getaways.

It comes as are becoming more popular than ever, with Brits favourign holidays at home over destinations such as Bali, Spain and Dubai.

“Since 2004, search interest in ‘staycations’ in the UK has grown by an incredible 9,772%, outgrowing interest in popular international hotspots like Bali, Dubai, Goa and even Spain.

“Turns out, Brits are becoming far more interested in what’s available on their doorstep than jet setting around the world.”

A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, Croyde’s coastline has become renowned as a surfing destination, even rivalling the popular Cornish destination of Newquay.

While there are plenty of surfing schools for those with little to no surfing experience, those who are nervous about taking part in this thrill-seeking activity can instead opt for body-boarding, another popular pastime at Croyde Bay.

And it’s not just surfers who have something to get excited about in Croyde, with plenty of scenic walks or cycling routes on offer along South West Coast Path.

For foodies, the village of Croyde boasts an array of tasty options from traditional pubs, sports bars, and brunch locations. And for those visiting between April and November, then be sure to Croyde’s Ice Cream Parlour which is perfect for those looking for a sweet treat.

There are plenty of other attractions in the surrounding areas, with Exmoor National Park and Watermouth Castle both about a half-hour drive from Croyde.
