Jeremy Clarkson reveals one food item he cut to shed pounds after doctors’ warning

has shared lifted the lid on his recent health transformation, crediting a significant dietary change for helping him drop the pounds.

The 64-year-old host revealed he cut out processed foods and embraced a healthier lifestyle following a serious health scare last year.

Last October, Jeremy was where he underwent an electrocardiogram, blood tests and X-rays before having a stent fitted.

After he came round from the life-changing operation, the former Top Gear host explrained that one of his arteries feeding blood to his heart was “completely blocked”.

The TV favourite explained that since he went under the knife, he has swapped out indulgent snacks like bacon for celery and carrots.

He told outlets: “My phone flashed up this morning saying, ‘You are taking far fewer steps this week than last’. I thought, ‘Yeah I would be as I am sitting here [recording the show]’.

“It also says you are eating far fewer sausages. I just sit here and eat celery. I am feeling better on it. I do feel very well.” The Clarkson’s Farm presenter was then quizzed if the recent health scare gave him the “jolt” to improve his health and fitness.

He replied: “I had that when I had pneumonia, and I gave up smoking. This, you go, ‘Actually thats it’.” The dad-of-three went on to reveal that he has consulted a dietician who has helped him to cut back on the snacks.

She gave him one huge piece of advice: “Don’t eat processed food. If it’s got more than one ingredient in it, don’t eat it.” When the motorist went through his health scare last year, he revealed in his column for The Sunday Times that doctors had warned him he had been “days away” from his condition detiriorating.

It comes as Jeremy sees in the new year with a seventh series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which he has hosted since 2018 after taking over from Chris Tarrant, who helmed the show from 1998 to 2014.

He shared one of his highlights from filming the game show, saying: “We have done three shows a day for what feels like quite some time now, and I still get a thrill out of watching people’s faces when they know the answer, but they don’t think they do.

“I like being busy and I love this show. I am not making any of this up, I love hosting it.” Despite being a big fan of his job, Jeremy has admitted that the new Ask the Host lifeline that was introduced when he became a presenter left him ‘terrified’.

He added: “This series I have been particularly hopeless. I was doing reasonably well on my average getting them right, but this series I have been really useless!”
