BBC One’s Silent Witness has made a comeback with its 28th season earlier this month, featuring the pathology team cracking more criminal cases.
The forthcoming episodes present an especially chilling case for Nikki (Emilia Fox) and Jack (David Caves). The fifth and sixth episodes see them delving into a missing-persons case when dismembered body parts are discovered, beginning with a hand in a water body.
The suspense escalates as concealed clues emerge.
Episode five is scheduled to air at 9pm tonight (January 20) on One, with the subsequent episode premiering at the same time tomorrow night. For those who can’t wait, the episodes are available for streaming on iPlayer now.
The upcoming episodes introduce a new face, Anneika Rose, who will portray a new character named Lucy – set to face escalating pressure in the latest plots, reports .
Here’s everything you need to know about the actress.
Inside Anneika Rose’s life off-screen as she makes appearance in Silent Witness
Background
Anneika was raised in Glasgow’s West End alongside her five siblings. Her family hails from Sri Lanka.
She attended an all-girls school before honing her acting skills at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. While she prefers to keep her personal life under wraps, it’s known that she resides with her partner and two young children.
Anneika Rose starred in Crossfire
Theatre
While she has gained recognition for her television roles, Anneika initially established herself in the theatre world. Her notable stage credits include the Royal Shakespeare Company’s productions of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dreaming.
Anneika has also graced the stage in Richard II at the Globe Theatre, as well as The Empress and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Her most recent theatrical appearance was in Behind the Beautiful Forevers at the National Theatre in 2021.
Television Career
Anneika’s television journey began in 2010 with a role in the Scottish detective drama Taggart. She has since appeared in several popular TV shows, including Ackley Bridge, The Cry, Deadwater Fell, and Crossfire.
However, she is perhaps best known for her roles in Line of Duty and Shetland. Notably, she played PC Farida Jatri in Line of Duty’s fourth season and reprised her role in season six.
Her character, Farida, was wrongly framed by corrupt officer DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) for leaking information to the Organised Crime Group (OCG), but the charges were eventually dropped.
Anneika joined the cast of Shetland a year later, shortly after the birth of her second child.
With a background in theatre, Anneika transitioned to television relatively late in her career. She has spoken about how she has learned from her experiences, saying, “I feel like most of what I have learned comes from sitting quietly! Really, it’s sitting quietly on set and taking in what other people are doing and the technicality of everything that’s going on.”
She has also expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she has had, stating, “And I’ve been really lucky I’ve got to work with these great people.”
