Coronation Street fans gasp ‘she’s back’ as they spot behind-the-scenes clue

Fans of are convinced that an old character from the past is returning after a video showed Ken Barlow’s front door boarded up, with the entrance to the property covered in plywood on set.

This has sparked a frenzy online with many ITV fans suggesting that Becky McDonald had returned to Weatherfield. She departed the soap in 2012 after pub boss Steve (Simon Gregson) decided to leave her.

Posting the video on X, one person added the caption: “What’s happened to Ken Barlow’s door May I ask? #,” which prompted one fan to reply with an image of Becky using an axe, penning: “She’s back!”

Luckily, the wooden door doesn’t suggest that Ken’s character is going anything soon, as the 92 year old legend confirmed that he signed a long contract with the ITV soap.

Played by William Roache, the actor has stuck with since it first aired in 1960. According to The Mirror, he signed a new deal along with fellow co-star Sally Dynevor.

Despite the good news of Ken’s character, the ITV soap continues to be in the spotlight due to a spate of recent dismissals.

The soap opera has recently seen a number of cast members depart the programme and their Head of Production is also set to leave the Cobbles for rival show, Hollyoaks.

According to The Sun, financial strains are reportedly at the heart of the issue, with insiders citing a significant budget crunch as the reason behind the exits.

” is on its knees financially and bosses are being forced to make hard decisions” an insider disclosed, pointing to skyrocketing TV production costs and a dwindling advertising market.

“The cast are not happy but ITV have no choice but to slash costs,” added the source.

However, despite the current concerns, another insider assured The Mirror of promising prospects for the beloved soap, stating, “Fans can ignore any idea that within a decade the soap will be gone, because it’s in no way on the brink of collapse.”
