Terry Bradshaw has purchased stakes in three horses
Terry Bradshaw has embarked on a new venture by purchasing stakes in two thoroughbred horses from McPeek Stables. The Thoroughbred Daily News reveals that now owns a 20% stake in each of the three two-year-old horses trained by Ken McPeek.
Fellow FOX personality Curt Menefee has also joined in the business, buying into one of the horses. Despite the recent purchase, this isn’t Bradshaw’s first encounter with the sport, as he has owned two winning horses before.
co-owned Mission Impazible (Unbridled’s Song), who won at the GII Louisiana Derby in 2010 and competed in the Kentucky Derby. The 76-year-old was also part-owner of Graydar – winner of the New Orleans Handicap race in 2013. When asked to compare horse racing to football, Bradshaw stated: “There’s nothing like the Super Bowl. It doesn’t compare to that, but it is pretty friggin’ awesome. I can’t do the Super Bowl anymore, but I can get lucky in the horse business because that’s what you have to do-you have to get lucky.”
Horse trainer McPeek also commented on Bradshaw’s foray into horse racing, suggesting that while the FOX star isn’t ready to make significant investments, he is eager to continue exploring the sport. He said: “These are modestly priced horses.
“This is a conservative move on his part. He has just 20 percent of the three. He’s not throwing money at it. But he’s very enthusiastic. He’s already talked about coming out every morning here at the Fair Grounds. Other than his TV work, he’s not that busy.”
And when asked what Bradshaw is like to work with, McPeek added: “I talk to Terry regularly. He’s a hoot. He’s hilarious. He’s in his mid-seventies or more but he sounds like he’s 30. He’s a very energetic guy.”
Curt Menefee is also investing in the horse-racing business
This move into horse racing could be a potential venture for Bradshaw should he decide to retire from broadcasting. Current ESPN radio star Mark Giangreco had previously called for the veteran TV star to step down from FOX, claiming that there had been a noticeable decline in the ex-NFL player’s work recently.
Posting on X in November last year, Giangreco said: ” stumbling thru the hilites was funny and folksy at first now it’s really aggravating, uncomfortable and annoying, falling behind and mispronouncing until Curt Menefee has to take over and bail him out. It’s sad. I love the original TB. Save him from the embarrassment.”
The veteran NFL star has been working with FOX for over 30 years and may soon decide to focus more on his racing business.
