The much-anticipated ITV series Out There has finally premiered on ITVX, with its debut episode airing on ITV1 on Sunday (January 19).

Nathan forms a tense alliance with Turuk, who assists in buying Gwen’s farm and egg business. However, PC Crowther (Eiry Thomas) suspects Nathan’s involvement in burning Kenny’s car, and the farmer discovers that Crowther has a detailed investigation mapped out in her garage.

As the stakes rise towards the final episode, here’s what transpires in the finale of Out There.

Nathan (Martin Clunes) arranges to meet Caleb’s witness, Mason (Gavin Spokes), with Caleb (Mark Lewis Jones) fabricating a tale about why they were at the quarry.

PC Crowther (Eiry Thomas) confronts Nathan at Owen’s funeral she’s aware he’s spoken to her witness. The copper warns him that police will inspect the mine on Monday and will effortlessly find Nathan or Johnny’s DNA on Kenny.

Nathan reveals to his brother about Turuk’s drug operation and how Gwen’s farm is being utilised as their new drug warehouse under the pretence of egg distribution.

Caleb and Eva (Natalia Kostrzewa) are in a bind, strategising on how to thwart PC Crowther’s probe and dispose of Kenny’s corpse. Their scheming is nearly exposed when the vet, returning for a second round of TB tests, drops by and nearly uncovers their illicit drug ring.

Turuk is displeased with Nathan being under police scrutiny, yet Nathan, spurred on by the vet’s words, proposes using the garden centre warehouse as a decoy for drug distribution to mislead the authorities.

Nathan informs PC Crowther about the garden centre, leading to a successful raid. Meanwhile, Nathan joins Eva in retrieving a drug shipment hidden within machinery, as Caleb manages the grim task of recovering Kenny’s remains from the mine.

Despite the relentless pursuit by Scott Foley (Michael Obiora), Nathan and Eva manage to secure the drugs, while Caleb deals with the aftermath of Kenny’s demise.

The family dynamic takes an unexpected turn when Alice Williams, Nathan’s daughter, makes an unannounced visit to the farm. There, Nathan and Johnny collaborate on farm duties and reflect on the “brave choice” Nathan made regarding Kenny.

Johnny asks how they will get rid of the drug dealers and Nathan replies: “We do what my da would have done. What all farmers do. We settle in, bide our time and wait.

“Stand in the in Ridgefield mid winter everything’s dead, knackered and silent. Thought of spring and summer seems impossible, but eventually it rolls around.

“That’s what’s gonna happen with this. Sooner or later they are going to blink or make a mistake, and when they do, we make our move.”

In the climactic scenes, Bunny (Joshua McCord) brushes off PC Crowther’s warning about local drug activity. In the show’s closing shot, he is found dead.

Their agreement leads them to The Raglan and Rhys faces a savage beating upon arrival.

Later on, Rhys seeks out Sadie (Carly Sophia Davies) at her school. Saddened by her brother’s battered condition, Sadie escapes the school premises to be by his side.

Johnny visits Rhys and Sadie and it is revealed it was Sadie’s idea to lure Johnny into the drugs operation. Hurt, Johnny leaves their home.

Is there going to be a series 2 of Out There?

At the moment, has not confirmed if there will be a second series of Out There. The series ends on a bleak note, with Nathan overseeing the drug operation but observing that he will fish out the drug gang when the time is right.

There’s plenty of plot lines to follow up in a potential second series, including the drugs operation, Bunny’s death, what happens to Nathan’s farm and the ongoing police investigations into County Lines and Kenny’s disappearance.
