These areas have the highest incidents of dangerous driving offences in the UK
Motorists may not realise they live in one of the UK’s “most dangerous” driving hotspots in 20 areas across the UK.
has revealed that in England and Wales logged more than 5,700 crime reports of in the year to June 2024.
A staggering 830 incidents were found to cause death or serious injury in the UK in a major road safety concern for drivers.
Figures are similar to previous years although the number of accidents causing death or serious injury is up by 12% since 2022.
Analysis of the data has revealed in the North with motorists in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester most at risk.
Motorists could be fined or issued penalty points for dangerous driving
Bradford topped the list with the city considered to be the dangerous driving capital of England and Wales.
In the three years up until the end of June 2024, there were a whopping 1,039 dangerous driving incidents recorded by officers.
This included 39 crashes that led to the death of an individual or serious injury.
It means the city has a total of 247.5 dangerous driving offences per 100,000 people living in the area. This is the equivalent of one dangerous driving crime for every 420 people living in the city.

Dangerous driving charges are considered when a motorist’s actions are found to fall “far below the minimum standard expected of a competent and careful driver”.

Calderdale, a town 16 miles to the west of Leeds was found to be the second most affected area with 182.8 incidents per 100,000 people.
Officers in Leeds stopped more dangerous drivers than Bradford over the same period with 1,096 crimes picked up.
However, when looking at the population of the area, Leeds is only third with 166.4 incidents per 100,000 people.
