Jack Draper has claimed he showed his fellow pros that he can go the distance in Grand Slams by winning three five-set matches at the .

The British No.1 was forced to retire from this fourth round tie with because of a hip injury which ruined his pre-season training.

Draper, 23, has been dogged by injuries issues during his career and had played only three five-set matches in his career before this week

But the US Open semi-finalist said: “I think it’s been really important to kind of show that I can go five sets and be OK. Obviously, doing it three times, that’s pretty difficult, but I think it does show the other players that I’m improving in that area a lot. And I think that’s great.

“And not having the best prep and not feeling maybe like my tennis is in a good place as well, I think that’s really positive from my side.

“Top players are able to find a way to win even when they’re not playing their best. So I think it’s been a really positive week in that aspect as well, just to show myself and everybody that, apart from the Alcaraz match, I am at a stage where I’m improving, I can go five sets and I can back it up as well. I think that’s really important.”
