in your is caused by hard water, which is rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

It can appear around taps and showers as well as in appliances such as kettles.

Whilst it isn’t harmful to consume water from a limescale-ridden kettle, it can present itself in the form of white bits which float on your beverage.

Over time, this may cause your drink to taste funny, which isn’t ideal, so it’s best to clean the kettle.

I often use white vinegar to descale my kettle, but I recently decided to use hard dishwasher tablets, and I’ve never looked back.

To clean a kettle with a dishwasher tablet, simply boil water in a kettle and let it slightly cool.

Add in the tablet after unwrapping it, and let it sit in the appliance for up to 30 minutes.

The tablet, which is designed to remove grease and grime, should loosen the limescale buildup in the kettle.

Once 30 minutes is up, simply pour out the water and refill it with fresh water before boiling it again.

Do this step a couple of times to make sure there is no dishwasher tablet residue in the appliance.

Check inside the appliance, and if there is any limescale remaining, simply use another dishwasher tablet again.

There are lots of other uses for the tablets around the home, including cleaning the toilet, removing bathroom stains, unclogging drains and brightening outdoor furniture.

Dishwasher tablets can be purchased from a variety of different supermarkets, including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Lidl.

In Aldi, you can buy a 40 pack for just £3.29, which means each tablet equates to just 8p each.
