The beautiful French village located that’s ‘something out of a fairy-tale’

This pretty village is just two hours away from a popular tourist destination in France and it is one of the the country has to offer.

Belvès in Dordogne looks like a scene from a and the medieval village is known as one of the most beautiful in France.

Under the main square, there are some historic dwellings that you can visit which are a unique place to see as part of your trip.

The village is also home to the seven bell towers which can be seen from afar. 

You’ll also see the 15th century covered which can be found in the centre of Belvès.

To get there, you can fly to Bergerac Dordogne-Périgord Airport which is just over 50 minutes from the village.

The village is also located between Toulouse and Bordeaux.

One of the village’s main points of interest is Les Troglos de Belvès which is made up of eight underground cave dwellings.

On a guided tour, you can experience the lifestyle of the poorest people who lived 19 feet underground, 800 years ago. 

A tour takes 45 min and costs around €7.00 (£5.90) for an adult ticket.

One person who visited the caves on said: “In a beautiful village, visit cave houses in the city center. 

“With a guide, very friendly and very interesting, we visited several small cave houses underground. Very interesting to see how our ancestors lived.”

In the village, there are a number of bars and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the centre while enjoying the pretty architecture.

If you’re hoping to visit the , it is only open on certain days so you’ll need to plan your trip with this in mind.

Market day is on a Saturday morning and during July and August there is an evening market on Wednesday nights where you sit down at one of the tables laid out around the central halle and then select what you will eat from the surrounding stalls. 

From the , there are a few other spots close by that are worth visiting.

You can visit Monpazier which is similar to Belvès and also Urval is not far away and is a charming place to explore.
