Liz Truss has suggested that Sir Keir Starmer is refusing to commit to a fully independent and funded because Labour politicians risk being outed as culpable for the scandal.

In a wide-ranging interview from Washington DC ahead of the inauguration, the former Prime Minister told the Daily Express that Labour’s attitude to the scandal has been “appalling”, and Labour does not want to risk upsetting Muslim voters after top Cabinet figures were nearly ousted at the election.

She also claimed that loves Britain more than does, and suggested Rachel Reeves is on the verge of a 1976-style IMF bailout due to her handling of the economy.

Ms Truss tore into the government for their handling of the child sexual grooming gang scandal, saying Labour politicians had been involved in the decades-long cover-up.

She said: “There’s no doubt about that. ’s role as Director of Public Prosecutions is going to be scrutinised.”

“But they also don’t want to upset Muslim voters, and that has been motivating a lot of this.

“You can see people like Jess Phillips and Wes Streeting almost lost their seats in the last election. We’ve got four Islamist MPs that have now been elected, and [Labour] are looking over their shoulder at that.”

She accused of “prioritising electoral advantage over the lives of girls across our country”.

While Ms Truss’ fury as Sir Keir was clear to see, she suggested that Home Secretary Yvette Cooper is hamstrung by a political system that allows failing public sector officials to remain in post without repercussions.

Speaking about ’s plans to reform the state and sack thousands of civil servants for anti-Republican bias, Ms Truss pointed out that Cabinet Ministers in Britain do not have the same power.

She explained: “Even if Yvette Cooper did actually want to do something, which I very much doubt, she can’t actually just go and sack the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, she can’t go and sack the head of immigration and put in somebody good. She can’t do that!”

Liz Truss is in Washington DC for the inauguration, and was spotted at the party thrown in ’s honour on Friday.

Asked about comments made by speakers at the drinks reception that is going to be Britain’s next Prime Minister, Ms Truss failed to rule it out.

The former PM said: “2029 is a long way away. What year is it? 2025. Think about where we were in 2021, you know, we wouldn’t have imagined we’d be here.”

However she argued Britain is on course for a “Trump-style revolution” in 2029, which will oust Labour.

Ms Truss has become vocally aligned with Mr Trump over the past few years, echoing his 2016 call to “drain the swamp”, which she warns is “worse, larger” in Britain than in the US.

She argued that the MAGA/Trump movement is “doing the right thing in America, and I think Britain needs all the help we can get.”

Asked about the President-elect appearing to quash Labour’s planned surrender of the Chagos Islands, the former premier quipped: “Trump appears to love Britain more than does!”

She explained: “ is part of a kind of class of liberal elite human rights lawyers who are desperate to lecture the rest of the world and what to do, and, you know, always appear to be ashamed of Britain and our history rather than proud of it.”

Liz Truss, who was forced from power after just 49 days due to economic turmoil sparked by her mini-Budget, appears to revel in Rachel Reeves’ own economic misfortune, which has sent borrowing costs soaring over the past fortnight and caused a drop in the value of the Pound.

However she hit out at the different reaction from the establishment and media between the two bouts of economic crisis, insisting Ms Reeves is being treated differently because the socialist establishment is “on her side”.

She warned Britain is “on the verge of bankruptcy and potentially having to go to the IMF for a bailout”.

“It’s looking very bad. very bad. I can’t see the labour party being prepared to do the spending cuts that are going to be required.”

Ms Truss said that Kemi Badenoch’s prescription that the British state is broken and needs a complete overhaul and reset is “a really important agenda”, however warned the Tory leader she needs to be more specific about her policy proposals.
