In a stunning turn of events on ITV’s Tipping Point, was reduced to tears as one contestant, Clive, made history. The player scooped an astounding £20,000 – the largest jackpot ever won on the show.
couldn’t contain his excitement as he tearfully declared: “Clive, you’ve done it! I can’t believe you have done it! ” A jubilant Clive replied: “I am knocked over! Thank you so much!”
Ben continued: “Clive, I have stood in front of this machine over a thousand times, the only time that has happened was when it was on a tray that didn’t get taken! You have won £20,000 Clive!”
The emotional player admitted: “I am welling up,” to which Ben asked: “How does that feel Clive?” The contestant shared that it was a “fanstatic” feeling.
Social media platform X, once known as Twitter, erupted with congratulations for him. One admirer commented: “Aw nice one Clive on #tippingpoint. Delighted for him, what a guy,” while another added: “Well done Clive #tippingpoint”.
The crucial moment arrived with the final question: “Which team won the 2019 Super Bowl by a score of 13-3?” Clive’s correct response was: “New England Patriots,” clinching him the grand prize amidst celebrations.
A Tipping Point contestant walked away with £3,200 in winnings
Ben enquired about plans for the windfall asking: “What are you going to do with the money, tell me?” Clive excitedly disclosed: “Well, I’m sure we’ll be going down to Aus, we’re just going to enjoy it, it’s just stunning, I’m overwhelmed.”
In October, Tipping Point viewers were left aghast as contestant Malik fluffed a series of “simple” questions. The ITV quiz show, steered by host , pits players against each other in a battle of wits for counter drops with cash prizes.
Steph struck it lucky and headed into the last round, but Malik became the talk of the town with back-to-back blunders on what many deemed straightforward queries.
Under pressure and vying for counters to claim the big prize, Malik tripped up on two particular questions which sent viewers racing to Twitter (X) to express their astonishment.
When quizzed about the iconic 1960s Liverpool band with numerous number one hits, Malik drew a blank and missed the obvious answer, The Beatles. To compound his error, he followed up by briskly answering “Rome” when Ben questioned him on the capital of Greece, where the right response was “Athens”.
Don’t miss… [REACTION]
An emotional Ben, who joked he was leaving his role on Good Morning Britain for Tipping Point
Malik chastised himself upon realising his slip-up, but not before sharp-eyed Twitter spectators zoomed in on the mistake. One viewer posted: “‘What’s the capital of Greece? ‘ Malik ‘Rome’,” while another playfully questioned: “Rome is a Greek city, is it? #TippingPoint.”
Another chimed in with a sarcastic quip: “Ah yes, that well-known Greek capital city – Rome! #TippingPoint,” while a fourth lamented: “Oh dear. The lack of geographical knowledge nowadays never ceases to amaze and sadden me. Capital of Greece, Rome #tippingpoint.”
Steph ended her game on Tipping Point with a cool £3,200 in her pocket, opting against risking it all. On maternity leave, she’s eyeing up a new car with the winnings, as her company car will be off-limits once she’s back at work.
Even after declining the final gamble, Steph was invited to play out the last three counters for curiosity’s sake. Realising victory was out of reach, she expressed sheer joy, thanking host : “I’ve had an amazing time, thank you, Ben! “.
cautioned viewers that Steph’s fortune could have vanished had she taken the plunge with those last counters. But fortune favoured the brave, and Steph left with her hard-earned £3,200 intact.
