The car continued production abroad until 1970 but remains one of the most sought after sought-after British classics even today.

Speaking on , Mike said: “Quite possibly the best experience you’ll ever have, ever, in any car is in a Mk1 Mini.

“Which is going to pull you down the road with its little engine but that is just ridiculous. There is something illegal about driving that car.

“You should be arrested at every single roundabout by the police because surely it can’t be that much fun to drive a car but somehow it is. It’s a legalised go-kart.”

“Every time you get behind the wheel at 30mph you feel I’m breaking the law, this is illegal because I’m having fun’.  Even at 30mph in a Mini you’re having fun, it just feels brilliant, that’s why I love them.”

Experts at stated that historic Mini machines built between 1960 and 1970 are valued anywhere from £16,000 and £60,000 in good condition.

Prices for these classics will depend on how well vehicles have been maintained, the models current mileage and any damage.

Meanwhile, doubled down on Mike’s claims that the Mini was similar to a go-kart.

They commented: “It seems clichéd to say the Mini drives like a big go-kart, but the truth of the matter is it does.

“And none more so than the Cooper version. They’re not all that powerful, but they’re also not big or heavy, so they’re quick enough.

“And as with most small cars you feel like you’re travelling far faster than you really are. The dinky 10” wheels might not do much for the ride on uneven surfaces but the suspension’s fairly compliant on Hydrolastic cars, and the wheel size means that changing direction is easy.”
