Aaron Rodgers, once thought to be entering the political sphere himself, is looking forward to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation hearing with enthusiasm.
Kennedy, who has spread anti-vaccine misinformation and other conspiracy theories, is President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. A date for his confirmation hearing has yet to be announced.
Though Kennedy’s nomination has drawn pushback from public health officials and a number of lawmakers, Rodgers says he isn’t concerned. Appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show Live” Thursday, the New York Jets quarterback issued a stern warning to senators who might oppose Kennedy during the forthcoming hearing.
“I want to watch his confirmation hearing and just see who tries to fuck with him,” Rodgers said. “Like please, somebody try to get after him and just watch him absolutely mop the floor with any of these senators.”
“You better come ready, senators,” he warned. “Come ready and try and see if you can pull one over on my boy, Bobby. Because Bobby’s a fucking smart dude. And no notes, off the cuff and can handle his own pretty well.”
The quarterback went on to argue: “He just wants to make sure that everything that’s being given to our kids is safe, everything that we’re ingesting on a day-to-day basis is safe. And he’s going to ‘Make America Healthy Again’ or is going to freaking die trying. Wouldn’t you want that?”
Kennedy, who ran for president as an independent, reportedly asked Rodgers to be his running mate before he dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Trump.
Rodgers, a known vaccine skeptic, said he turned down the offer to continue playing football.
Though Kennedy is arguably the most high-profile of Trump’s nominees, the former Democrat is facing opposition from both sides of the political spectrum.
Among those who have urged the Senate to reject Kennedy’s nomination is former Vice President Mike Pence, who drew attention to his unclear stance on abortion.

“I believe the nomination of RFK Jr. to serve as Secretary of HHS is an abrupt departure from the pro-life record of our administration and should be deeply concerning to millions of Pro-Life Americans who have supported the Republican Party and our nominees for decades,” Pence said in a statement following Trump’s presidential win in November.
