Keir Starmer may use the King to help form good relationships with Trump
is set to use King Charles as a “secret weapon” over the next few years as is set to officially become President of the US once more.
While Starmer congratulated Trump on his election win last year, concerns are heightening as Trump is due to be inaugurated as the United States president on January 20.
The Labour Government are reportedly concerned about this change in US politics, with how chancellor Rachel Reeves is already preparing for a potential emergency mini-Budget in March.
There are also concerns about the ways in which Trump could damage the UK economy, for example by launching disastrous tariffs, which could eventually result in more problems for the Labour government.
Although these concerns remain high at the moment, the i Paper reported that insiders believe Starmer may use the Royal Family as a way to keep relationships with Trump, who is a royalist, positive.

One Labour MP said: “Obviously we do [need to deploy the Royals]. The poor old Royal Family is going to be spending a lot of time with Trump in the future I suppose.”
At the moment, ideas to use the Royal Family as a way to improve UK and US relationships could see Trump become the first world leader to be invited to the UK for a second state visit, which would be up to the Government to decide on.
The i Paper also reported that the Royal Family could visit America for the 2026 United States Semiquincentennial, which is the 250th anniversary of American independence. None of these ideas have got past the planning stage.
The King may also meet Trump outside of state visits, especially after how well Trump’s meeting with , 42, went at the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral in December.
