Sky’s January sales cut the price on a range of services, but there’s one that’s really worth your attention because it gets you the essentials for a .

This deal gets you the Sky Stream puck, Sky Atlantic, Netflix, Discovery+ and 15Mbps fibre . That’s a great price for this package, which previously cost £40 a month.

That’s a saving of £120 over the life of the 24-month contract, although prices could change during this period, Sky notes. The deal went live on 7 January, making up part of .

If this doesn’t suit you, it’s also worth mentioning ongoing January sale, while Amazon’s also on our streaming list with its

gets you access to Sky content without the need for a satellite dish on your house, so it’s great for those living in apartments, or who don’t want the dish. The box connects to your home internet and then lets you stream a whole world of entertainment.

The big inclusion here is Sky Atlantic, which gives you access to shows like Billions, Boardwalk Empire and House of the Dragon, as you have TV from HBO and Showtime. It was also the channel for the excellent Day of the Jackal that aired recently starring Eddie Redmayne.

But you get Netflix in the cost too. This is the ad-supported version of Netflix, but if you did want to upgrade your Netflix package, you can easily change your subscription and just pay the extra cost.

Discovery+ also includes some great options, as it’s home to TNT Sports, which has a selection of Premier League matches alongside other sports. Of course, Sky Stream also gets you access to Freeview content, and there’s a whole selection of streaming apps, too, so you’ll always find something to watch.

Don’t miss…

Powering the whole thing in this package is the 150Mbps full-fibre broadband, which will ensure that you have plenty of bandwidth to stream shows and support other internet demands in your home.

It’s worth noting that Sky Stream moved on from Sky Q, so this is about streaming your content rather than recording everything as it was in the past, which is something that shoppers embrace: “Superb. As long as your internet isn’t the speed of a potato. Moved from sky q and this is flawless. Love it,” said one customer on TrustPilot.

But there are some who call out the performance, saying: “I had sky stream installed about 6 months ago now, good at first then came the issues! It cuts out constantly, the picture goes blank, the Internet cuts out. Great box sets, films, documentaries, but poor device!! I constantly reset.”

From personal experience with Sky Stream, I have the following tips:

  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi is good and strong – using the Ethernet cable option is preferable
  • Turn off overnight power saving, turn on networked standby mode

These might improve any connectivity issues you’re having, meaning the box is still connected when you return rather than going to sleep.
