Dr Mackie shared her oral knowledge in a video responding to a man concerned that he “brushes everyday” to no avail as he “still has yellow teeth”.

The -based dentist explained how many commit one of the cardinal sins when it comes to teeth brushing, which is doing more harm than good.

In the response video, Dr Mackie said: “You might be brushing too hard, stripping away that white enamel.”

Being too enthusiastic with your teeth brushing is known to erode the hard outer layer of your teeth. This is what coats them and protects them from damage.

Aggressive brushing can damage your teeth and also expose the dentin layer underneath your teeth, which is a yellow-brown in color.
