Dylan Dreyer’s son tries gum for the first time: ‘Can I spit it out?’

It’s safe to say Dylan Dreyer’s 5-year-old son, Ollie, is not a fan of gum after trying it for the first time.

On Jan. 16, the TODAY meteorologist, who is a proud mom of three sons, shared a video on Instagram of her middle child’s appalled response to the gum’s overwhelmingly minty taste.

In the clip, Ollie silently crunches on the gum while looking confused as younger brother Rusty, 3, waits to hear what his brother thinks.

Dylan, who is behind the camera, bursts into laughter and asks, “Well, what do you think?”

“I don’t like it,” Ollie says while making a sour face. “Can I spit it out?”

As soon as his mom tells him “yes,” Ollie pulls out a trash can and immediately gets rid of the gum.

Rusty then sweetly turns to his mom and asks, “Why doesn’t he like it?”

In a second clip, Ollie had just one word to describe the gum: “bad.”

Dylan joked in the caption: “Ollie’s (first) time trying gum. Maybe I shouldn’t have started with a minty icy blast. Or maybe that was a good idea…”

Fans commented on Ollie’s dramatic response and shared relatable stories beneath the post.

“His reaction…priceless!” one said.

Another wrote, “Well that is a good way to turn him off from having gum!! Good reverse psychology!!”

A third suggested that next time Dylan try a sweeter flavor. “Juicy Fruit for first gum,” she proposed.

Ollie trying gum was one of his first experiences since celebrating his 5th birthday on Jan. 2.

In honor of his special day, Dylan posted a sweet tribute to him on Instagram. Beside a slideshow of adorable snaps, including one that showed Ollie smiling with frosting on his nose and another of him blowing out the candles on his cake, she cheered, “It’s an Ollie-Day!”

She gushed, “Happy Birthday to my sweet little guy who snuggles like no one else and loves getting lost in his own little world. I’d love to spend a day in your brain.”

“I can’t believe you’re 5!!” she added. “I love you so much!!”
