BBC Breakfast host sparks concern as he bids farewell ‘you’ll get rid of me’

presenter Roger Johnson sparked concern among viewers as he stepped in to present the programme between Monday and Thursday. However, while having to be up early for Breakfast, Roger also presented North West Tonight.

Taking to X, one worried fan asked: “@RogerJ_01, when do you sleep? @BBCBreakfast for two days and the late @BBCNWT in between. Tough Stokie!”

Someone else wrote: “All joking aside… 6am @BBCBreakfast 1835 @BBCNWT 2235 #LateNews 0600 #Breakfast… @RogerJ_01 you really must be living/sleeping at Media City!! All due praise and respect, U must be knackered!!! U on tonight and tomorrow morning aswell?!”

Roger quickly reassured his followers as he bid farewell for a couple of days. In response, he wrote: “1830. Then that’s it – you’ll be rid of me for a couple of days! Have a good day.”

In a later tweet, Roger said he was thrilled to reunite with Sarah Campbell, who fronted the show with him on Thursday. However, this soon sparked a more concerned reaction.

The host said: “Something of a @BBCSouthNews reunion on the @BBCBreakfast sofa this morning … @SarahCam3 @mikebreakfast and I worked together on South Today a few years back.”

“Seriously, Roger – are you being held hostage at MediaCity? Blink three times after the 7am heads if you are and we’ll send a rescue party,” one fan replied.

Roger hosted the show with on Monday and Tuesday, replacing regular Jon Kay, who was absent.

He then fronted the morning programme on Wednesday along with Nina Warhust, in replace of Sally.

Roger was back on Thursday and hosted the show with Sarah Campbell, in replace of and .

Taking to social media, fans questioned why Roger was hosting this week. One asked: “Damn! I thought it was Sunday for a minute..What’s Roger Local doing on Breakfast this morning?”

In response, another viewer joked: “I’d rather have Roger than dad joke Jon.”

Breakfast airs daily at 6am on One.
