Severance season two is set to grace screens tomorrow (January 17), with fans eagerly anticipating answers about the enigmatic Lumon Industries, as well as new mysteries to unravel.

Ben Stiller, luminary and key figure behind Severance as both executive producer and director, opened up about the lengthy hiatus between seasons in a recent chat, reports .

At 59, Stiller reflected: “I mean we got hit with the [Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA] strike in the middle and it takes a little while.”

“I’m so happy we’re back and the fans who stuck with us from the first season,” he expressed during an interview on the .

The strikes, which brought writers and actors to a standstill as they negotiated new contracts amidst AI concerns, were responsible for delaying numerous shows including Severance.

However, the wait for a potential third season of Severance seems likely to be shorter.

Erickson, 40, optimistically noted: “I certainly would like it to [take less time], yeah. And the conversations we have had about it, that’s been in the conversation.”

The creator of the hit series Severance, Dan Erickson, has divulged that although the second season took as long to produce as the first, he’s keen on refining the process for future instalments. Speaking to , Erickson expressed his desire to “fine-tune the process” and “streamline things” in the hopes of delivering subsequent seasons more swiftly.

He revealed: “So, my hope is that if there is a season three, it’s going to be sooner.”

The mastermind behind the Golden Globe-nominated show, often likened to , also confessed he has the conclusion of the series firmly mapped out.

Furthermore, Erickson hinted at having a vision for the number of seasons he intends for Severance, ensuring a robust finale is set.
