Kate Garraway halts Good Morning Britain chat as she says Martin Clunes is ‘falling apart’

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway had to momentarily halt the programme on Thursday when Martin Clunes experienced a slight wardrobe hiccup.

While presenting the latest instalment, Kate, 57, alongside her co-host Ed Balls, chatted with Martin, 63, regarding his newest thriller Out There.

The conversation took a brief detour as Martin was spotted adjusting his clothing on live TV, prompting Kate to jest: “He’s just worrying about his clothes. By the way, he’s falling apart!” She then quipped: “At least it’s just your clothes, for me, it’s the actual body, Martin, so be grateful!”

Widely recognised for roles in Men Behaving Badly and Doc Martin, Martin Clunes is now venturing into the intense ITV thriller Out There.

The official synopsis describes the series as follows: “County lines drug dealing and its escalating, insidious crime wave sweeping the British countryside is the subject of new six-part ITV and ITVX drama, Out There, starring Martin Clunes, as a farmer confronted with dark forces creeping into his rural community”, reports .

“The drama depicts the surreptitious invasion of the land our farmer cherishes, with devastating consequences, as his livelihood, homestead and family life are threatened by local county lines drugs dealers: urban gangs using the British countryside as a field of operations, moving drugs and money between their inner-city hubs and provincial areas.”

In the drama, Martin plays Nathan Williams, who runs a farm which has been in his family for generations. However, he is caught in a sad pattern of work and grief following the death of his wife, Sabine.

Nathan is also a single parent to teenager Johnny, played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis. A teaser for the show reveals: “Nathan is uniquely placed and possesses enough pent-up energy to take on the gangs that threaten to engulf his son.

“Consequently, he embarks on a personal journey that will take him ever further out of his comfort zone into a dark alternative world as he fights to protect his family, his homestead and his legacy.

“Now Nathan must accept that the rustic atmosphere of his childhood is long gone, replaced by something altogether more perilous. And the only way for Nathan to survive in this brave new world is to learn the rules and fight back.”

Out There will start airing on ITV at 9pm on Sunday 19 January, with the full box set also becoming available on ITVX that day.
