Mondays are a slog for football fans, but now, there’s a hoppy silver lining.
On Jan. 15, Coors Light announced it would be temporarily changing its name to “Mondays Light” in solidarity with folks who party too hard on Super Bowl Sunday.
The new name will come on limited-time 12-pack packaging, turning a “Case of the Mondays” into a literal case of beer available to buy at retailers nationwide.
On Jan. 13, the beer brand debuted advertisements that misspelled the phrase “Mountain Cold Refreshment” as “Mountain Cold Refershment” in print advertisements and a Times Square billboard.
After people took to social media to point out the typo, Coors Light thanked folks for catching it. Now, Coors Light reveals it was all a playful nod to the Monday brain.
Coors Light will also be airing a Super Bowl 30-second commercial for the third year in a row, though it has remained tight-lipped on what it will involve. As a reminder, last year’s spot featured Lainey Wilson, LL Cool J and a whole lot of beer.
Fans can also enter a sweepstakes contest to win a case of Mondays Light after the commercial airs on the big day.
Coors Light is not the only company in recent memory to debut an alter ego. In October 2024, Goldfish temporarily changed its name to the much more mature “Chilean Sea Bass” to appeal to adults.
