Kevin Kisner asked Tiger Woods’ teenage son Charlie to join in with the match
Kevin Kisner asked ‘ teenage son Charlie to join their Jupiter Links Golf Club team during their disappointing TGL debut on Tuesday.
They suffered a 12-1 drubbing at the hands of the Los Angeles Golf Club, with Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala and Justin Rose doing the business for their rivals.
Woods emerged from the tunnel to a raucous reception but saw his team slip five points behind after the opening four holes. At one point, the situation was so dire that Kisner asked Charlie to intervene in a bid to shake things up.
Following a brief discussion with Woods, in which the golf legend was heard saying his team were ‘getting killed’, Kisner looked at Charlie in the crowd and said: “You wanna come and play? Come sub in, man! Bring in the righty.”

Later in the evening, Kisner left Woods in fits of laughter when he comically shanked a bunker shot, which cannoned off the flag and flew to the other side of the arena.
Woods was also left embarrassed when he miscalculated an approach for the green, with his shot completely missing the mark and ending up in the water. , finding amusement in his father’s misfortune.
The 49-year-old initially looked frustrated after watching his effort sail over the green and into the water, but managed to see the funny side once the disappointment had worn off.
“I don’t know what the hell happened,” he confessed. “I don’t hit it that far. With my old body, I don’t know how it went that far.”
Reflecting on the event as a whole, Woods said: “We were entertaining, we hit a lot of shots. I think the people here, they got to see how bad pros can be. It was just a boat race. Oh, my goodness, but we had a great time.

“I don’t know how much [skill] was evident today. I don’t have any golf skills. Hey, this is the start of a new year. We had a great time. Hopefully people tuned in for the entire broadcast.”
TGL is a new golf league, formed by Woods and , where the action unfolds on two state-of-the-art golf simulators. Events will take place every week at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Los Angeles.
Half of the arena is dedicated to ‘screen play’, where players strike balls from a natural surface towards a giant screen. Depending on the type of shot, balls will be played from a grass tee box, fairway grass, rough or bunker sand.
When balls land within 50 feet of the virtual hole, the action moves to the other side of the arena, known as the ‘green zone’. It is a mechanised short game area which can be altered for each hole in terms of dimensions, topography and pin position.
