Odio Thiago Holm has moved to LAFC on loan.
midfielder Odin Thiago Holm has joined Los Angeles FC on a season-long loan after making just three appearances under this season. The former Norwegian under-20 international joined the Scottish club in 2023 from Valerenga for £2.6million, but has since become more renowned for his name than his performances.
He did pick up a league winners medal in the 2023/24 season, having played just 13 times in all competitions.
But a move to the could now help ignite his career if he can get the necessary game time in America.
However, the 21-year-old has already followed in the footsteps of his footballing idol, off the field at least. He grew up as Odin Holm, but in 2017, legally altered that to add ‘Thiago’ as a middle name.
Holm took the measure as a tribute to Thiago Alcantara, whose iconic career saw him represent , , and at club level. He won nine top-flight titles at Barca and Bayern, and also won the Champions League with the German club in the 2019/20 campaign.

Holm still has some considerable way to go if he is to scale the heights of the Spaniard. But he seemingly remains part of Celtic’s long-term plans, with his current deal running until 2028.
After signing for the Glaswegians 18 months ago, Holm revealed how he had to battle with his parents before they eventually agreed to let him alter his name “They thought I was crazy, of course,” he admitted.
Don’t miss…
“They initially said no but eventually got tired of me always asking,” he said. “I’ve always been a Barcelona fan and loved Thiago Alcantara so it was when I was 10 years old I first wanted to add Thiago to my name. But they wouldn’t let me then, and it wasn’t until I was around 12 or 13 that they did.”
Despite conceding he did receive a negative reaction on social media, Holm vowed to “stick with” the change. He will now look to forge his own career path in LA, where he will be team-mates with icons Hugo Lloris and .
