Alongside co-host , Susanna grilled the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on Wednesday’s instalment (January 15) of .
Mr Jones’ appearance on the ITV programme came shortly after it was announced that inflation rates had dropped to 2.5%. Although the rate has eased, it is still above the Bank of England’s target.
During the interview, Susanna mentioned a quote by Rachel Reeves in which she said she will never stop fighting to improve people’s living standards.
The presenter then referenced the scrapping of the , which saw the Labour government take away money from millions of pensioners.
Susanna told Mr Jones about Elaine Yates, a 75-year-old pensioner who applied for pension credit but hadn’t heard anything back in months.
“Surprise, surprise. Within half an hour of her interview here on this programme, the rang her up and said she was eligible,” the broadcaster said.
