halted to deliver some “breaking news”.

The presenter, 54, hosted the ITV programme alongside Ed Balls for the third time this week, with the pair sharing the latest headlines of the day with viewers.

During the programme, Susanna announced that figures released in the last few minutes revealed that inflation rates have dropped to 2.5 percent in December, down from 2.6 percent in November.

The latest figures, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), come after pressure has increased on the public finances in recent days due to government borrowing costs soaring.

Although the rate has fallen, it remains above the Bank of England’s target.

After announcing the breaking news, Susanna and Ed were joined by correspondent Jonathan Swain, who was live from Staffordshire.

Jonathan explained how the news means the economy is heading in the right direction.

Reporting from a butchers, Jonathan shared how the shop has a variety of products, not just a range of fresh meat, because this is what businesses have to do to cover their costs.

“Food prices have contributed to high inflation over the last few years,” the star said. “Wholesale meat prices have gone up by 35 per cent for example.”

Jonathan then brought out Martin, the owner of the butchers, who revealed he can’t hire more staff because of the recent changes to Rachel Reeves’ budget.
