Emmerdale aired more mystery on Tuesday night as Wendy Posner found herself being blackmailed
Emmerdale’s latest intrigue hit the screens on Tuesday with Wendy Posner caught in a blackmail plot.
Rhona Goskirk was left reeling earlier in the week after the Hotten Courier website dragged up her past, insinuating she had a hand in stepdaughter April Windsor’s vanishing act.
In the episode, out at 7am on ITV X and due for a 7:30pm ITV airing, Rhona was supported by best friend Vanessa Woodfield as they speculated over the identity of the mystery source. Later, as Vanessa discussed the article with Ella Forster at the surgery, a shifty-looking Wendy tuned into their conversation from a distance.
Meeting up for lunch, Wendy seemed preoccupied and upon sighting a journalist at The Woolpack pub, she confronted the reporter. Wendy accused them of warping her words and taking her comments on Rhona’s situation out of context, letting slip that she was the source of the article.
Wendy declared: “That wasn’t a quote, though, was it? Because you have twisted it when I thought we were just talking”, reports .
It has been teased that Wendy’s life and career looks set to implode amid the blackmail plot
Subsequently, the encounter turned sour when Wendy resisted sharing more details, prompting the journalist to turn blackmailer, threatening to lay bare Wendy’s own skeletons unless she coughed up juicier village gossip.
In upcoming episodes this week, audiences will witness Wendy divulge details about Ella’s murderous past to deflect attention from her own wrongdoings. Long-term fans will remember that Ella served prison time for killing her childhood best friend.
However, hints suggest that Wendy’s life and career are on the brink of collapse due to the blackmail scheme. This follows reports that actress Susan Cookson is set to depart after a six-year stint as Wendy.
Veteran soap viewers may recall Wendy harbouring a significant secret in 2021 when it was unveiled that she had concealed criminal convictions during her nursing application, meaning she isn’t actually qualified for the role.
The truth surfaced when Wendy’s ex-partner Russ returned to the village, holding her hostage in an attempt to seize his grandson Harry’s inheritance upon discovering his mother had left a substantial amount for the young boy.
Despite Wendy’s lack of qualifications and her career built on deception, Dr Liam Cavanagh chose to keep her secret, allowing her to continue working at the village surgery. Could Wendy’s secret be revealed?
airs every weekday at 19.30pm on ITV1, ITV X, STV and STV Player with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. It is also available each morning from 07.00am on ITVX.
