and Barry Hawkins are in action at The Masters today as they aim to book their place in the quarter-finals. The tournament got underway on Sunday, with fighting back to defeat after in the lead-up to the event.

Shaun Murphy overcame Gary Wilson 6-3 in his first match to round off an enthralling opening day.

Mark Selby then thrashed Ali Carter 6-1 yesterday after Ding Junhui had got the better of Mark Williams in a 6-5 thriller.

O’Sullivan, who has won The Masters eight times, isn’t playing this year due to medical reasons, with Robertson drafted in to take his place.

And his snooker rivals will be aiming to make the most of his absence by going after silverware.

Mark Allen and Si Jiahui will face each other in today’s second clash, so follow the Express Sport LIVE blog below for all the latest updates.

Trump 1-0 Hawkins

Judd Trump strikes first to take the first frame following a mistake from his opponent.

Barry Hawkins potted the blue but then diverted the red into the corner as he attempted to break the balls up. And Trump took advantage.

O’Sullivan text emerges

Ronnie O’Sullivan apparently sent a text to The Rolling Stones icon Ronnie Wood and promised he’ll “be back”. O’Sullivan pulled out of The Masters just before the event was due to get underway because of health reasons.

And discussing an exchange with O’Sullivan over text, Wood explained during an appearance on Eurosport: “I texted Ronnie and said, ‘Sorry about your cue, mate.’ He said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll be back, I’m just a bit tired at the moment.’”
